Chapter 14 teams: stages 14-10 to 14-80

8 stages · 65 teams

The first stage of chapter 14 is a wall, plain and simple: players at 243 with every dojo at level 3 still couldn't pass it, and one felt both struggling lanes needed four units each. After that the chapter keeps changing the shape on you. 14-11 puts Solaflora, a healer, at the head of lane 1, 14-20 builds a heavy lightning centre, 14-40 runs a five-row grass column, 14-50 pulls most lanes back to the third row, and 14-60 brings in Scorchwing as part of a full fire lane. Listed levels span roughly 250 to 284. The 14-80 boss was reworked at some point, so older advice may describe a different fight.

Cheerlet, Frugagon, Frostique, Sparkdoe, Blitzmane and Rockwu are the core, with Cluckeroo and Firecoil as the usual healers. Solaflora is the interesting addition: it shines sunlight that heals and raises attack and defence, then fires seeds that bring extra light, which is why it can stand where a wall normally would. 14-70 is a useful one to study because it swaps several T3s back down to their T2 forms, so it shows what the chapter looks like without the top evolutions. One 14-30 clear came a few levels under its target, so the listed numbers aren't a hard floor.

Stage 14-10

10 teams · Suggested level: 249–289

Notes on stage 14-10

14-10 is a wall for a lot of players. Some at level 243 with every dojo at 3 couldn't pass it, and one said it felt like they needed four tataris in both struggling lanes.

Lineup 1, for level 255, starts every lane in the first row. Lane 3 turns out to be the rock lane, four deep: Rubblet, Gibber, Rockwu and Rattlecoil. Rubblet and Gibber are T1s, but they're guardians, and their job is to hold while Rockwu's synced clones and Rattlecoil's rapid waves do the damage. Rattlecoil, the T2 of Taptail, can Stun with those waves.

Note that lane 4 is Firecoil, Frostique and Synthhog: heal, slow and Fragile in three rows. Here, lane 2 is Boldclaw, Cheerlet and Wobbler, the T1 orb unit. Here, lane 5 is Blitzmane with Sparkdoe and Cluckeroo far behind. Lane 1 is just Stalkerix and Frugagon.

If your monkey isn't T3, one player suggested using another rock damage dealer in its place. Blitzmane has been swapped out for Electroar, and Nimbuzzy has stood in for Synthhog.

Stage 14-20

9 teams · Suggested level: 250–277

Notes on stage 14-20

14-20 starts every lane in the second row or later and sets up a heavy lightning centre. As recorded, lane 3 is Blitzmane in the second row, then Zaplet, Sparkdoe and Surgehoof. The lion's Morale boosts the units behind it, Zaplet marks enemies with Scouted, Sparkdoe paralyses and Surgehoof's shock waves splash.

Lane 1 serves as the tank lane. Jarachnid leads, Turtuff stands behind it and Frugagon is in the fourth row. When Jarachnid's Liquid Shield breaks, nearby enemies are Stunned, and Turtuff's Shell Shield helps cover the time Jarachnid spends rebuilding.

Looking at the grid, lane 4 is Cobbledon with Firecoil and Rockwu behind it, so the monkey's clones are healed by the ring. Notably, lane 2 is Swaystroll, Cheerlet and Frostique. Lane 5 starts in the third row with Azurion and Bubbit.

Lane 5 is where you're most exposed. It has no guardian, so Azurion's burn and Bubbit's slow have to keep enemies off.

Capobeetle has been used in place of Turtuff, Clawzor or Ospisces have gone in for Swaystroll, Kitjitsu or Humbleetle instead of Cobbledon, and Pyrohound or Capypapa instead of Bubbit.

Stage 14-30

9 teams · Suggested level: 250–289

Notes on stage 14-30

14-30 was cleared at level 240 by a player who adjusted it from a version made for 244, so there's some room below the listed level.

As for lane 3, it's the water lane and the deepest: Swaystroll in the second row, Zaplet behind it, Ripplewing in the fourth and Frostique at the back. Ripplewing's Sleep and Frostique's ice both slow, and Zaplet's Scouted bursts on enemies who have been held in place.

Look at lane 2: Blitzmane, Cheerlet, Turtuff and Sparkdoe. The lion boosts, Cheerlet heals and Turtuff sits in the third row as a second wall behind them.

On this board, lanes 4 and 5 start in the third row. Inside lane 4 sit Goonbug's dash ahead of Cluckeroo and Azurion, and lane 5 is Cobbledon with Rockwu behind it. Lane 1 lines up Stalkerix with Frugagon two rows back.

Goonbug is the most swapped cell. Capobeetle has replaced it three times, and that version adds Fragile to the dash. Humbleetle has gone in for Rockwu, Cobbledon or Turtuff, Jarachnid or Frugatoad for Frugagon, and Synthhog for Zaplet.

Stage 14-40

6 teams · Suggested level: 250–278

Notes on stage 14-40

14-40 builds the board around a five-row grass lane in the centre. Lane 3 starts in the second row with Stalkerix, then Frugagon, Cluckeroo and Cactobloom at the back. Frugagon's slow keeps enemies in front of Stalkerix, and Cactobloom's Sting stacks implode as stung enemies die, so a slowed crowd tends to collapse all at once.

Lane 1 contains Blitzmane leading Bubbit and Frostique. The lion's Morale boosts the two behind it, and Bubbit's mist marks enemies Fragile right where Frostique's shards land.

Lane 4 is made up of Swaystroll, Cheerlet and Flametail. Lane 5 lines up Turtuff, Sparkdoe and Azurion, a guardian with paralysis and burn behind it. Lane 2 serves as the short one, Cobbledon and Rockwu, two rock guardians with no healer.

Lane 2 turns out to be the one to check if you lose. Rockwu's clones help, but nothing in that lane slows enemies or heals the pair.

Humbleetle has been a substitute for Cobbledon twice, and its dung balls add a slow that the lane lacks. Firecoil has gone in for Flametail, Capobeetle for Turtuff, and Rockfu for Rockwu.

Stage 14-50

3 teams · Suggested level: 250–269

Notes on stage 14-50

14-50, listed at level 250, pushes most lanes back to the third row, so enemies walk a long way before they meet anything. The exception is lane 3, where Cobbledon stands in the second row with Turtuff behind it, Frugagon in the fourth and Rockwu at the back.

That makes lane 3 three guardians deep, with Frugagon tucked between them. Cobbledon's splitting beams and Turtuff's spinning shell soak the first hits, Frugagon slows from behind, and Rockwu's clones join in from the fifth row.

Nimbuzzy is new in lane 2, between Stalkerix and Cluckeroo. It summons clouds that keep dealing small lightning damage, alternating white clouds with dark ones that inflict Paralysis. With Stalkerix striking continuously ahead of it, enemies paralysed by a dark cloud stand in the mantis's reach.

Lane 1 ends up being the fire lane: Pyrohound, Firecoil and Azurion. As recorded, lane 4 is Blitzmane, Cheerlet and Zapooch. Lane 5 starts in the fourth row with Frostique and Sparkdoe, and has no guardian at all.

Lane 5 counts as the one to watch. Frostique's slow and Sparkdoe's paralysis have to stop enemies before they reach two damage dealers.

Stage 14-60

8 teams · Suggested level: 252–301

Notes on stage 14-60

14-60 (level 252) puts a full fire lane in the centre from the second row: Pyrohound, Firecoil, Azurion and Scorchwing. Scorchwing is new. It shoots five fireballs in quick succession and then rests for a while, so it hits in bursts while Azurion's burn keeps ticking between them.

Lane 4 holds Blitzmane in the third row, Synthhog and Capypapa. Lane 2 features Rockwu, Cheerlet and Sparkdoe. Lane 5 lines up Frugagon, Cluckeroo and Flametail. Lane 1 starts in the fourth row with just Maskfry and Frostique, pulling enemies together for the ice.

One player whose own version wasn't working was advised to move the right lane up a row so the lion's knockback reached it too, and to move the healing bunny up as well. The same advice said the right lane seemed to need the crab. Another player said they'd tried the pear and the bug in place of the Godzilla.

Swaystroll has been a substitute for Maskfry three times, and Clawzor or Polarpaw have also gone in there. Pyroprawn or Bubbit have stood in for Scorchwing, and Cobbledon for Rockwu.

Stage 14-70

10 teams · Suggested level: 260–294

Notes on stage 14-70

14-70 (level 269) is built from T2 forms in places where earlier stages had T3s. Lane 1 carries Electroar instead of Blitzmane, lane 3 has Rockfu instead of Rockwu, lane 4 has Frugatoad instead of Frugagon, and lane 5 has Frostpaw instead of Frostique.

So the rock lane in the centre carries extra weight. Grid-wise, Cobbledon leads from the second row, Turtuff is behind it, then Rockfu and Humbleetle. Humbleetle's dung balls linger where they land and keep slowing, which makes up for Frugatoad lacking a slow.

Lane 2 holds Pyrohound, Firecoil and Ripplewing, with Ripplewing's Sleep at the back. Lane 1 features Electroar, Cheerlet and Sparkdoe. Lane 4 is home to Stalkerix, Cluckeroo and Frugatoad. Look at lane 5: Swaystroll with Frostpaw two rows behind.

For one failing lineup, the suggested fixes were swapping Droppit for Cheerling and the pear for Funglet, and moving them around.

Frostique has been a substitute for Frostpaw six times, and Frugagon has replaced Frugatoad twice, so the T3s are welcome if you have them. Rockhog, Rattlecoil or Gemsnail have gone in for Turtuff, and Ospisces for Ripplewing.

Stage 14-80

10 teams · Suggested level: 247–289

Notes on stage 14-80

14-80 is the boss at level 284, and the boss was reworked at some point, so players asking about it were often asking about the newer version.

Lineup 1 starts three lanes in the first row. Consider lane 3, the long one: Snoozebo, Synthhog, Surgehoof and Boltskipper in the fifth row. Snoozebo is new. It fires piercing thorns while it dozes and snores, and it recovers HP while it does, which suits a unit taking the boss's first hits.

Behind it, Synthhog spreads Scouted and Fragile, Surgehoof's shock waves splash, and Boltskipper's orb inflicts Bind from the back.

For this stage, lane 1 is Electroar, Firecoil and Turtuff. In this setup, lane 2 is Cobbledon, Cheerlet and Humbleetle. For this stage, lane 5 is Swaystroll with Frostique two rows back. Lane 4 starts in the third row with Frugagon, Pandaroot and Azurion.

For the newer boss, one player suggested replacing Blueflick with Ashlarva in the first lane, and running Mantis, the sunflower and the wild boar in the fourth lane instead.

Capobeetle has replaced Pandaroot twice, Rockwu has replaced Humbleetle twice, and Waveflutter has twice gone in for Swaystroll.
