Chapter 21 teams: stages 21-10 to 21-80

8 stages · 80 teams

Chapter 21 is friendly to players who haven't evolved everything. Several stages name the lion, deer and monkey only by their first forms, Zappur, Voltfawn and Punchimp, so whatever form you own can fill those cells, and the lion's knockback and the monkey's clones work at any tier. New faces come in steadily: Pyroprawn in the middle of the fire lane on 21-10, Buzzbeak as a tank at the head of lane 5 on 21-30. Listed levels range from about 369 to 431. The 21-50 boss was called easy on a first try, while the 21-80 finale came down to zero seconds for one player and four for another.

Azurion, Capobeetle, Pyrohound, Frostique and Waveflutter appear across most boards, with Serrabloom, Cheerlet, Turtuff and Tideon close behind. Capobeetle dashes through enemies while invincible and leaves them Fragile, a good opener for any lane. Serrabloom, the T3 mantis, keeps slashing in an area and stacks Fragile too, so the two together soften enemies for everyone else. Buzzbeak only reaches its potential with allies next to it to link. On the final boss, the grass zobo that jumps lanes decides a lot of the luck, so a couple of reruns of the same setup make sense before rebuilding.

Stage 21-10

10 teams · Suggested level: 366–435

Notes on stage 21-10

21-10, at level 386, brings in Pyroprawn, the T2 of Shrimpyro, in the middle of the fire lane. Looking at the grid, lane 3 is Pyrohound in the second row, Pyroprawn and Flametail. Pyroprawn throws punches quickly and sometimes inflicts Burn, which adds a burn source to a lane built on Pyrohound's pillar and Flametail's fireworks.

Consider lane 1, the tiger lane: Kitjitsu, Frostique and Azurion. Azurion's burn gives Kitjitsu Burning targets to dash into and heal from.

Consider lane 4, the deepest: Blitzmane, Cheerspring, Synthhog and Zapantler, with the lion's Morale over the whole lane. For reference, lane 2 is Capobeetle, Frugagon and Waveflutter, with the butterfly right behind the fruit. As recorded, lane 5 is Voltling and Zapooch, paralysis and chain lightning with nothing behind them.

A shared version carried a level-363 player with 4-3-3-3-3 dojos through this one.

Firecoil or Trippet have replaced Pyrohound. Tideon, Puffbelly or Charflutter have gone in for Pyroprawn, and Tideon, Clawzor or Swaystroll for Kitjitsu.

Stage 21-20

10 teams · Suggested level: 357–435

Notes on stage 21-20

21-20, listed at level 410, lists two lines by their base names. Zappur, the lion, leads lane 2, and Punchimp, the monkey, is at the back of lane 5. Whatever form you have, the lion's wave knocks back, and the monkey line calls clones to fight alongside it.

A level-363 player with dojos at 4-3-3-3-3 said the fifth lane took quite a few tries. That lane is Pyrohound in the second row, Charflutter, Humbleetle and Punchimp. Charflutter's ring heals with large area damage and boosts attack, so it's doing most of the work for the pillar and the dung beetle.

For reference, lane 3 is Frostique, Trippet, Ripplewing and Tideon, a water lane with the spores in the middle. In this lineup, lane 1 is Capobeetle, Serrabloom and Frugagon. Also, lane 2 is Zappur, Cheerlet and Turtuff. As recorded, lane 4 is Azurion alone in the fourth row.

Another player made a small modification because their butterfly and lion were T2, and another admitted they'd had to get creative on some levels because they hadn't read an evolution's skill properly.

Waveflutter has been swapped in for Ripplewing twice. Blitzmane has gone in for Zappur, Rockwu for Capobeetle, Swaystroll for Trippet, and Blueflick or Ignisnap for Azurion.

Stage 21-30

10 teams · Suggested level: 382–449

Notes on stage 21-30

21-30, a level-431 stage, starts every lane in the second row. Lane 5 has a new tank at the front: Buzzbeak, the T2 of Sparkeet. It gains Charged damage reduction and links allies, giving them a Charged attack boost, and if no allies are nearby it attacks with weak currents. Zapooch and Sparkdoe stand right behind it, so it always has allies to link.

Then there's lane 3, the long one: Turtuff, Rattlecoil, Ripplewing and Rockwu, Stun and Sleep ahead of the monkey. Lane 2 fields Blitzmane, Voltling and Frostique. Look at lane 4: Pyrohound, Cheerspring and Azurion. Lane 1 is home to Capobeetle and Frugagon.

One player at level 368 with dojos at 4-3-3-3-3 said it was their first time using the lucky neko, Kittazap, in another version and called it a really underestimated tatari. There's also an alternative for players with a T2 Sparkdoe.

Stalkerix has been the swap for Capobeetle.

Stage 21-40

10 teams · Suggested level: 361–442

Notes on stage 21-40

21-40, listed at level 410, lists several lines by their base names, so read Zappur as the lion, Voltfawn as the deer, Punchimp as the monkey and Clucky as the chicken. In this setup, lane 2 is Zappur in the first row, then Voltfawn and Tideon at the back. The deer's lance pierces and paralyses at every form. Also, lane 3 has Punchimp in the third row, behind Cobbledon and ahead of Humbleetle and Ripplewing.

On the grid, lane 1 is Serrabloom, Pearpair and Clucky. Serrabloom carries the lane with its continuous Fragile strikes, Pearpair stands behind it as a second guardian, and Clucky in the fifth row is the lane's healer.

Layout-wise, lane 4 is Synthhog, Cheerlet and Azurion. On this board, lane 5 is Voltling and Zapooch.

The strong cells are where the damage comes from: Serrabloom, Humbleetle's dung, Ripplewing's Sleep, Azurion's burn and Tideon's mist. The lion and deer cells add knockback and paralysis on top.

Charflutter has been used in place of Cheerlet, Zapantler has gone in for Zapooch, Blitzmane for Zappur, and Flarevix for Synthhog.

Stage 21-50

10 teams · Suggested level: 368–442

Notes on stage 21-50

21-50 is a boss at level 369 that players found easy. One at level 368 with dojos at 4-3-3-3-3 called it an easy boss for a first try. There's also an alternative that uses a T3 frog with a T2 fox.

Lineup 1 makes lane 1 a fire lane with the tiger at the back: Pyrohound in the second row, Pyroprawn, then Kitjitsu. Pyroprawn's punches sometimes Burn, so the tiger behind them has Burning enemies to dash at and heal from.

Consider lane 3, the deepest: Sparkdoe at the front, Trippet, Waveflutter and Boltskipper. Waveflutter is between the spores and Boltskipper's Bind orb, so both can carry Slow and Sleep. On the grid, lane 4 is Clawzor, Charflutter and Azurion, with Clawzor's Shredded at the front and the T3 moth healing behind it. As listed, lane 2 is Rockwu, Cheerlet and Tideon. For reference, lane 5 is Capobeetle and Frugagon in the third and fourth rows.

Another player, at level 364 with the same dojo spread, cleared this run of stages with a shared version.

Cobbledon or Turtuff have replaced Tideon, Frostique has gone in for Clawzor, Serrabloom or Stalkerix for Capobeetle, and Firecoil for Charflutter.

Stage 21-60

10 teams · Suggested level: 366–420

Notes on stage 21-60

21-60, at level 415, starts four lanes in the first row and keeps them short. Lane 5 counts as the longest: Voltling, Surgehoof, Tideon and Frostique. Voltling paralyses, Surgehoof's shock waves splash more on Water enemies, and Tideon's mist slows and adds Fragile right before Frostique's shards land.

Lane 4 is all lightning: Blitzmane, Boltskipper and Zapantler. The lion's Morale boosts the Bind orb and the endless lance behind it. Lane 3 holds Serrabloom, Rockwu and Turtuff, three guardians. Lane 2 carries Rockzilla, Capobeetle and Waveflutter.

Lane 1 ends up being the fire lane, but late: Flarevix in the second row and Azurion behind it, two damage dealers with nothing in front.

Layout-wise, a level-364 player with dojos at 4-3-3-3-3 built their clear off a common version, and another tried an alternative with the frog at T3 and the zap dog at T2.

Cheerspring has been used in place of Boltskipper three times, which puts a healer into the lightning lane. Synthhog has gone in for Turtuff or Surgehoof, Pyrohound for Flarevix, and Charflutter, Lickflicker or Solaflora for Rockzilla.

Stage 21-70

10 teams · Suggested level: 367–440

Notes on stage 21-70

21-70, a level-410 stage, lists the lion, deer and monkey by their base names. As listed, lane 1 is Zappur and Voltfawn in the third and fourth rows, knockback ahead of a paralysing lance. In this setup, lane 5 is Turtuff, Punchimp and Rattlecoil, with the monkey between a guardian and the Stun waves.

The power is in the middle. On the grid, lane 3 is Swaystroll, Frostique, Capypapa and Waveflutter, with the butterfly right behind the healer. For this stage, lane 2 is Serrabloom and Charflutter, then Tideon two rows back. Also, lane 4 is Pyrohound, Cheerlet and Azurion.

A level-364 player with dojos at 4-3-3-3-3 said they made a few tweaks to a shared version.

Lane 1 turns out to be the weak one. Two units with no healer and no guardian are holding a lane, and the knockback is what buys them time.

Cheerspring has twice replaced Cheerlet. Trippet has gone in for Swaystroll, Lickflicker for Pyrohound, Stalkerix for Serrabloom, Capywata for Capypapa, Gibber for Turtuff, and Zenscarab for Punchimp.

Stage 21-80

10 teams · Suggested level: 369–451

Notes on stage 21-80

21-80 is the chapter boss at level 391, and players described close finishes. One beat it with zero seconds left, another won with four seconds left after adjusting a version until it worked. A level-376 player said the luck depends on the grass zobo that jumps lanes.

The damage fix came up more than once. One player had the fox over the chipmunk and was just barely short on damage, and another used the salamander in the first lane because the fox lacked damage there. Other fixes were swapping the middle mushroom for Jarachnid, or replacing a T3 bunny with Catnip.

Lineup 1 starts lane 3 in the first row with Serrabloom, then, after a gap, Cheerlet, Pandaroot and Cactobloom. Pandaroot's bamboo slows and grows, and Cactobloom's Sting implodes through the slowed crowd.

Specifically, lane 4 is Turtuff, Blitzmane, Rockwu and Solaflora. For this stage, lane 5 is Ospisces, Firecoil and Capypapa. Notably, lane 2 is Bubbit, Waveflutter and Flametail. Specifically, lane 1 is Azurion alone in the fourth row.

Frostique has been the swap for Capypapa.
