Chapter 13 teams: stages 13-10 to 13-80

8 stages · 51 teams

Chapter 13 is a run of close calls. Two of its stages were won with zero seconds on the clock, 13-30 takes retries before a good run comes, and 13-20 behaves like a straight level check, with failures and clears reported only a few levels apart in the 219 to 236 range. Listed levels go from about 238 to 256. On the board side, 13-40 builds a long grass column through the centre, 13-50 introduces Grillhog as a healer at the back of lane 5, and the 13-80 boss keeps breaking through the second row as if nobody stood there.

Stalkerix, Cheerlet, Frugagon, Sparkdoe, Frostique and Azurion are in every lineup, and two T3s arrive to stay: Blitzmane leads several lanes with a knockback wave that also boosts the damage of allies near it, and Rockwu spins its staff while its clones attack in sync. The monkey needs to be T3 for 13-30; the T2 was called nearly useless there. That said, the chapter bends: one 13-10 clear came well under the listed level while missing the T2 forms of the panda, the spider and the electric dog. When a run ends at zero seconds, don't rebuild. Shore up the lane that died and run it again.

Stage 13-10

3 teams · Suggested level: 225–238

Notes on stage 13-10

13-10 opens chapter 13 at level 238. A player at level 220 cleared it without a T2 panda, spider or electric dog by making changes, so the lineup bends.

Consider lane 4, the deepest and the main damage. Pyrohound leads from the first row, then Zaplet in the third, Cluckeroo and Azurion at the back. Zaplet's Scouted marks enemies, and Azurion's burning fireballs from the fifth row cover the whole lane.

Lane 5 serves as the lightning lane: Electroar, Voltling and Zapooch from the second row, which knocks back, paralyses and chains. Also, lane 2 is Swaystroll with Cheerlet and Sparkdoe behind it. As recorded, lane 3 is Boldclaw, Capypapa and Frostique, a water lane where Boldclaw's bubbles and Frostique's ice both slow while Capypapa heals.

Looking at the grid, lane 1 is Stalkerix in the second row and Frugagon two rows back, the short lane on this board.

Sunfleur has been used in place of Capypapa, and its sunlight heals and boosts both attack and defence. Synthhog has gone in for Zaplet, and Surgehoof instead of Voltling.

Stage 13-20

7 teams · Suggested level: 224–263

Notes on stage 13-20

13-20 is a level check more than anything. Players failed at 219 and 234 and cleared at 231 and 236, and one at 219 said their tataris couldn't kill the boss fast enough. One player said a T3 lightning dojo isn't needed if your level is high enough; another felt a T3 lion or T2 electric dog was required.

Lineup 1 is set for level 253, with most lanes starting in the third row. The fire lane is lane 2 and starts earlier: Pyrohound in the second row, Firecoil behind it, Zapooch in the fourth.

Lane 3 has the T3 lion, Blitzmane, at the front. Its wave knocks back and grants Morale to Zaplet and Sparkdoe behind it. On paper, lane 5 is Boldclaw, Frostique and Surgehoof, a water front with lightning splashes at the back. On the grid, lane 4 is Swaystroll, Cheerlet and Azurion. Specifically, lane 1 is Stalkerix, Frugagon and Cluckeroo.

One player's fourth lane kept dying because their Maskfry wasn't T2. A clear with dojos at 3-3-3-3-2 used Maskfry or Rockwu instead of Azurion. Boltskipper has replaced Surgehoof, and Voltling has stood in for Boldclaw.

Stage 13-30

8 teams · Suggested level: 235–274

Notes on stage 13-30

13-30 (level 253) takes retries to get a good run, players said. The monkey needs to be T3; one player called the T2 nearly useless here.

That's Rockwu in lane 4, third row, behind Swaystroll and Cheerlet and ahead of Frostique. Its spinning staff hits an area and its clones attack in sync, so the lane does far more damage than its guardian-and-support front suggests.

Lane 2 is the fire trio from the first row: Pyrohound, Firecoil and Azurion. Lane 1 is Blitzmane, the lion, in the second row, with Bubbit and Sparkdoe behind it. Morale boosts their damage, and Bubbit's mist marks enemies Fragile for the whole lane.

Lane 3 is just Cobbledon and Turtuff. Lane 5 is Stalkerix in the second row with Flametail and Frugagon behind.

If the right lane falls, one suggestion was to use the mantis instead of Goonbug in another version with the slug placed behind it, and another was to swap the fire lizard and the fox. Surgehoof has replaced Blitzmane, Puffbelly has gone in for Pyrohound, and Capobeetle or Pyroprawn instead of Flametail.

Stage 13-40

10 teams · Suggested level: 224–261

Notes on stage 13-40

13-40, a level-253 stage, leans on a long grass lane in the centre. Lane 3 starts in the second row with Frugagon, then Cactobloom, Cluckeroo and Stalkerix at the back.

Cactobloom is new. It launches spines that stack Sting on enemies, and when a stung enemy dies, the stacks implode for area damage. Behind Frugagon's slowing fruit, that means enemies slowed in the lane pile up Sting and set each other off as they fall.

Lane 1 serves as a fire lane in an unusual order: Firecoil in the second row, Azurion behind it, Pyrohound at the back. Look at lane 2: Rockwu, the T3 monkey, ahead of Sparkdoe and Blitzmane, whose Morale boosts both. Lane 4 contains Cheerlet, Boltskipper and Swaystroll, and lane 5 is Frostique with Boldclaw behind it.

A player at level 236 with dojos at 3-3-3-3-2 said they swapped the sackling for the mantis and the electric damage dog for the lion because theirs were T1, which matches what's here.

Firecoil has been swapped out for Flametail twice, and Sealoon has stood in for Boltskipper twice. Goonbug or Pandaroot have gone in for Cactobloom, and Capypapa or Clawzor instead of Boldclaw.

Stage 13-50

5 teams · Suggested level: 235–263

Notes on stage 13-50

13-50, a level-256 stage, brings in a new kind of healer. Grillhog sits at the back of lane 5, behind Stalkerix and Frugagon. It spends its own HP to hurl patties for area damage that grows with the HP spent, gives allies a BBQ Shield that damages enemies over time, and heals nearby allies when it's knocked down.

So Grillhog is useful even when it falls. Stalkerix gets shielded while Grillhog lives and healed when it drops.

The centre is the fire lane from the first row: Pyrohound, Firecoil, Azurion and Zaplet in the fourth. Zaplet's Scouted adds a burst on top of the burn. For reference, lane 4 is Blitzmane, Cheerlet and Sparkdoe, with the lion boosting the two behind it. In the recorded lineup, lane 2 is Rockwu with Cluckeroo and Flametail. Here, lane 1 is Swaystroll and Frostique.

A level-236 player with dojos at 3-3-3-3-2 said it worked with a T1 Maskfry in their version. Electroar has been used in place of Blitzmane three times, and Puffbelly has gone in for Zaplet.

Stage 13-60

5 teams · Suggested level: 235–258

Notes on stage 13-60

13-60 came down to the wire for one player at level 237, who won with zero seconds left and said the second lane held fine with a T1 dog.

Lane 5 has the new unit. Jarachnid, the evolved form of Sackling, stands in the third row behind Pyrohound. Like Sackling, it shoots green bubbles and stops to rebuild its Liquid Shield when it's down. The difference is that when the shield breaks, nearby enemies are Stunned. Cluckeroo and Azurion fill the back of that lane.

Lane 4 is the toughest front. Cobbledon leads from the first row, Firecoil heals behind it, and Rockwu's staff and synced clones hit from the third row. On paper, lane 3 is Maskfry, Frostique and Zaplet: the waves pull enemies together, the ice shatters into the group and Scouted bursts when it expires.

In this lineup, lane 2 is Blitzmane, Cheerlet and Sparkdoe. For this stage, lane 1 is Stalkerix with Frugagon two rows back.

Hootlet has replaced Firecoil, Electroar or Voltling have gone in for Blitzmane, Sackling instead of Jarachnid, and Frugling instead of Frugagon.

Stage 13-70

4 teams · Suggested level: 224–235

Notes on stage 13-70

13-70 is another one that was won with zero seconds left. The player said it wasn't a clean solution, their fourth lane sometimes died, and it got the job done anyway, so treat this as a base to adjust.

Lane 4 is that fourth lane, and it's the one lane starting in the second row. Blitzmane leads, Firecoil heals and boosts behind it, Rockwu's synced clones hit from the third row and Sparkdoe's lance paralyses from the back. It meets enemies first, which is why it's the lane most likely to fall.

The others start in the third row. Lane 1 is made up of Stalkerix, Flametail and Azurion. Lane 2 features Swaystroll, Cheerlet and Frostique. Lane 3 is made up of Goonbug's invincible dash ahead of Frugagon and Cluckeroo. Down lane 5 it's Voltling and Zapooch, paralysis followed by a chain.

If lane 4 keeps dying, the fix is usually Firecoil's level, since its ring is the one healing in that lane.

Pearpair or Pyrohound have replaced Flametail, and Polarpaw has stood in for Swaystroll.

Stage 13-80

9 teams · Suggested level: 226–271

Notes on stage 13-80

13-80 is the chapter boss, and players kept losing the second row. One said it got bowled over as if nothing was there.

Lineup 1 starts every lane in the second row, so that row is the whole front line. The strongest front is lane 3: Swaystroll's charged Ice Shield, then Frostique, Ripplewing's Sleep and Surgehoof's splashes. Lane 4 contains Stalkerix with Cheerlet and Frugagon. Lane 5 consists of Blitzmane, Voltling and Bubbit, knockback, paralysis and Fragile.

Lane 2 turns out to be the risky one. Firecoil leads it, with Sparkdoe and Rockwu behind, so a healer is taking the first hits. Lane 1 consists of Pyrohound with Azurion at the very back.

Players found their own fixes. One kept the bat in the fifth lane so it got the buff from Cheerling, the T1 form of Cheerlet, because otherwise that lane died, and swapped in Zapooch instead of the T1 dog when the second lane struggled. A level-238 clear won with two seconds left after rearranging the first lane for a T1 tiger.

Cluckeroo has been a substitute for Frugagon or Stalkerix, Lullely or Hippiehog have gone in for Voltling, and Rockfu or Humbleetle instead of Rockwu.
