Notes on fighting Pop Star

The hardest part of Popstar is the digging enemies on the left side, so Lineup 1 puts its sturdiest pieces there.

Lane 1 has Rockshell in row 1, Cragolin in row 2 and Sunfleur in row 3. Lane 2 has Firecoil in row 2, Pandaroot in row 3 and Gemsnail in row 4. Lane 3 has Rockhog in row 1, Humbleetle in row 2, Watchroo in row 3, Rockwu in row 4 and Rattlecoil in row 5. Lane 4 has Cobbledon in row 1, Cheerlet in row 2 and Synthhog in row 3, and Snoozebo holds row 1 of lane 5 alone.

Rockshell is the third form of the Gibber line. It fires a piercing shell that shields every ally it passes, so from row 1 of lane 1 its shot covers the whole left column. Cragolin right behind it claws an area and sometimes lands a heavy blow that stuns and knocks enemies into a neighbouring row, which breaks up the diggers as they surface.

Lane 3 slows and grinds. Rockhog's mud balls and Humbleetle's dung balls both slow enemies, and Rattlecoil at the back finishes with bursts of sound waves that can stun.

As the replacement in Rattlecoil's cell, a third-form Taptail comes first, then units of the Gopher line, then lower Taptail forms. As a substitute for Cobbledon, Ringtail does better if it is at least a third form. As substitutes, a third-form Gopher can replace Rockhog, Rockzilla can stand in for Sunfleur and Tideon for Watchroo. Another alternative moves Rockwu to row 1 of lane 4 and puts Zapantler in place of Snoozebo.

The strongest versions need high levels plus the fourth form of the Manteeny and Pyropup lines.

Lineups are numbered in the order shown above, left to right, top to bottom.
