Think of chapter 17 as the arrival of the big T3 water and fire pieces. Tideon slots into the back of the fire lane on 17-10, Morphanessa and Tideon anchor two lanes from the rear on 17-30, Flarevix and Zapantler bring new damage on 17-50, and Hellhound takes the front of lane 3 on 17-70. The boards keep varying too: 17-20 stacks a five-deep lightning column through the centre, 17-40 makes lane 3 the only full lane. Listed levels start around 287 and finish near 327. 17-60 was won with a single second left, and on the 17-80 boss the far-left lane is where runs fall apart.
Cheerlet, Frostique, Rockwu, Blitzmane and Azurion show up on nearly every board, and they're the units to keep levelling. Tideon is the quiet star: its heavy mist hits a wide area, slows and leaves enemies Fragile, so whatever stands in front of it hits harder. Hellhound's flames add Weak on top, which helps the lanes behind it survive. For the boss, a T2 monkey was considered too weak to trust, and Gibber was suggested as a stand-in; one lineup even works with a T1 tiger. If 17-80 keeps failing on the left, look there before touching anything else.

17-10, listed at level 287, brings Tideon, the T3 of Droppit, into the back of the fire lane. Lane 3 starts in the second row with Pyrohound, then Firecoil, Flametail and Tideon. Tideon's thick mist deals large area damage while slowing and making enemies Fragile, so the fireworks and the fire pillar ahead of it hit softened targets.
Morphanessa is at the back of lane 2, right behind Frugagon, so the fruit's explosions can carry its Slow and Sleep. Stalkerix leads that lane.
In lane 4 you have Blitzmane, Cheerlet and Sparkdoe. Lane 5 is Goonbug, Turtuff and Rockwu. Lane 1 starts in the fourth row with Frostique and Azurion.
A level-301 player with dojos at 4-3-3-3-3 said the left lane kept dying, and they fixed it by swapping the salamander and the fox and putting the dog in for their T1 tiger. Another shared an alternative at level 321 and admitted they had no idea how it worked.
Voltling has replaced Goonbug twice, and Capobeetle or Embertail have also gone in there. Kitjitsu, Solaflora or Sackling have stood in for Morphanessa, and Waveflutter for Firecoil.

17-20, at level 310, builds a five-deep lightning lane in the centre from the first row: Blitzmane, Cheerlet, Sparkdoe, Surgehoof and Boltskipper. Blitzmane's Morale covers the units behind it, Cheerlet heals and grants Invincibility the first time an ally is in Danger, and the three damage dealers paralyse, splash and Bind.
The rest of the front is just as early. As listed, lane 1 is Voltling, Turtuff and Rattlecoil. As recorded, lane 2 is Rockzilla and Rockwu, two rock guardians. Notably, lane 4 is Capobeetle's Fragile dash, Frugagon and Azurion.
In this setup, lane 5 is the outlier. Bubbit and Frostique start in the fourth and fifth rows, with nothing in front of them. Bubbit's mist slows and makes enemies Fragile before Frostique's shards arrive, but nothing there takes a hit.
One player said they cleared it at level 282 but forgot to take a screenshot, so it can go well below the listed level.
Stalkerix has replaced Capobeetle twice, and Ospisces has twice gone in for Bubbit. Morphanessa has stood in for Boltskipper or Surgehoof, Zapooch for Rattlecoil, and Cobbledon for Rockzilla.

17-30, at level 287, leans on two T3-and-up water supports at the back. Morphanessa sits in the fifth row of lane 2 behind Cobbledon and Turtuff, and Tideon closes lane 3 from the back, behind Stalkerix, Rockwu and Frugagon.
Then there's lane 3, the main lane. Stalkerix starts in the second row, the one unit that far forward, with Rockwu's clones and Frugagon's slowing fruit behind it, and Tideon's Fragile mist at the back making everything ahead hit harder.
Lane 4 holds Blitzmane, with Cheerlet and Sparkdoe behind it. In lane 5 you'll find Voltling, Zapooch and Frostique. Lane 1 starts in the fourth row with Firecoil and Azurion.
One player without the butterfly or the slug at T3 said they struggled with this formation and shared a different one that worked for them instead. Note that a level-301 player with dojos at 4-3-3-3-3 had to swap the tiger for Ashlarva because theirs was T1.
Kitjitsu has been used in place of Firecoil, Waveflutter has gone in for Morphanessa, Sunfleur or Bubbit for Tideon, Voltverine for Voltling, Surgehoof for Sparkdoe, and Zapup for Zapooch.

17-40, a level-287 stage, starts three lanes in the first row and makes lane 3 the full one: Stalkerix, Frugagon, Rockwu, Tideon and Cluckeroo. Tideon's mist slows and softens enemies right in front of the monkey's clones, and Cluckeroo at the back sends healing seeds up the lane.
Lane 5 is a water wall. Swaystroll leads, Boldclaw stands behind it and Frostique is in the third row, so two guardians absorb hits while the ice slows. Blitzmane leads lane 4, followed by Cheerlet and Sparkdoe.
Lanes 1 and 2 are thinner. Notably, lane 1 is Firecoil and Azurion in the third and fourth rows. For this stage, lane 2 is Pyrohound in the second row and Morphanessa two rows behind it, slowing what the fire pillar doesn't finish.
A level-301 player with dojos at 4-3-3-3-3 said their T1 tiger forced a change: they moved the tiger out of the first lane and put the chipmunk in the second lane instead.
Bubbit or Clawzor have replaced Morphanessa, Rockzilla has gone in for Sparkdoe, Ospisces for Boldclaw, Sulfunk or Charflutter for Firecoil, and Cheerspring for Cheerlet.

17-50, listed at level 324, adds two new T3 damage dealers. Flarevix, the T3 of Sparkit, sits in the fourth row of lane 3 and shoots intense fireballs that bloom on impact. Zapantler, the T3 of Voltfawn, sits at the back of lane 1. Its lightning lance pierces and paralyses like Sparkdoe's, and sometimes the piercing never stops.
Lane 3 is five deep from the first row: Cobbledon, Turtuff, Humbleetle, Flarevix and Morphanessa. Morphanessa is right behind Flarevix, so the blooming fire can carry Slow and Sleep. With two guardians and Humbleetle's slowing dung ahead, it's the strongest lane on the board.
In this lineup, lane 1 is Blitzmane and Zapooch at the front, then Zapantler after two empty rows. On the grid, lane 4 is Stalkerix, Cheerlet, Rockwu and Tideon. Here, lane 5 is Swaystroll and Frostique. Lane 2 is just Azurion at the back.
A level-301 player with dojos at 4-3-3-3-3 said it worked with no changes.
Ospisces has gone in instead of Swaystroll twice, Frugagon has twice gone in for Tideon, and Voltling has twice gone in for Zapooch. Surgehoof and Pandaroo have also been used.

17-60, listed at level 324, was won with one second left by a level-301 player with dojos at 4-3-3-3-3, so expect it to be close.
Lineup 1 brings back Kitjitsu at the front of lane 4, ahead of Cheerlet and Flarevix. The tiger's chi attack can dash it forward and heal it when it hits Burning enemies, and Flarevix's blooming fireballs land just behind, though they don't burn on their own. Cheerlet's healing and Kitjitsu's meditation are what keep it alive.
Lane 3 counts as the water lane: Sealoon's ricocheting ball inflicts Weak, then Frostique, Morphanessa and Capypapa. Morphanessa sits right behind the ice, and Capypapa heals at the back.
On the grid, lane 2 is Electroar, Tideon and Zapantler, so Tideon's Fragile mist lands ahead of the endless lance. For this stage, lane 5 is Cobbledon, Turtuff and Rockwu. Lane 1 starts in the fourth row with Capobeetle and Frugatoad.
Azurion has been the swap for Flarevix, which gives the tiger a burn to work with, and Humbleetle has gone in for Cobbledon.

17-70, at level 327, introduces Hellhound, the T3 of Pyropup, at the front of lane 3. It summons fearsome flames that deal large area damage and inflict Weak. Behind it are Trippet, Morphanessa and Flarevix, so Trippet's spores speed up everyone's attacks at a small HP cost, and Morphanessa's adjacent-ally effect reaches Flarevix.
There's no healer in that lane, which is the trade-off. Hellhound's flames and the Weak debuff have to keep the pressure off while Trippet's spores nibble at the lane's HP.
Lane 2 is Frugatoad, Cluckeroo and Azurion. Lane 4 is Blitzmane, Cheerlet and Tideon. Lane 1 is Swaystroll, Capobeetle and Frostique. Lane 5 is Rockwu and Zapantler in the third and fourth rows.
A level-302 player with dojos at 4-3-3-3-3 said they changed the left lane because of a T1 tiger.
Tideon is the most swapped cell. Surgehoof, Sparkdoe, Bastogard, Synthhog or Bubbit have gone in for it. Turtuff or Sparkdoe have replaced Zapantler, Frugagon for Frugatoad, and Kitjitsu for Capobeetle.

17-80 is the chapter boss, and the far-left lane is where people lost. One player said a run was pretty close and failed on that lane. Gibber was suggested instead of a T2 monkey, which players called weak at that tier, and one lineup works with a T1 tiger.
Lineup 1 is unusual for a boss. Lane 3 lists two units at their base forms: Fumekit, whose fumes keep damaging and sometimes ignite, and Fluffle, whose white clouds deal small lightning damage. Stalkerix leads them from the second row and Frugagon is at the back.
Note that lane 2 is Ospisces, Kitjitsu, Embertail and Bubbit. Ospisces pulls enemies together, and when several are pulled its whirlpool stacks Tidesurge Weak. Embertail's pinecone mines go off in the crowd, and Kitjitsu dashes into it.
In this setup, lane 1 is Hellhound with Azurion two rows behind, the burn supplier for this board. Grid-wise, lane 4 is Blitzmane, Cheerlet and Rockwu. Grid-wise, lane 5 is Clawzor and Frostique.
Swaystroll has replaced Clawzor three times, and Capypapa or Boldclaw have also gone in there. Firecoil has stood in for Embertail, and Flametail for Hellhound.
Lineups are numbered in the order shown above, left to right, top to bottom.
